York, PA
Our showroom and warehouse sit at 446 N George Street, so York County is the work we reach fastest. Vinyl, aluminum, wood and chain link, with permits and HOA submissions handled across every municipality in the county.

We cross into Lancaster County most weeks — Lancaster City, Manheim Township, Lititz, Columbia, Elizabethtown and Mount Joy. Zoning there is set township by township, so we deal with the office that governs your address rather than a county-wide rule.

Hanover is about twenty minutes from the York showroom, and it straddles the county line — some jobs fall under York County townships, others under Adams. We deal with whichever one governs your address, and we handle the permit either way.

Gettysburg is about thirty miles west of the showroom, straight out Route 30, and it is the one place nearby where the paperwork can outlast the install — anything inside the borough’s historic district needs a Certificate of Appropriateness before work starts. Cumberland and Straban Townships run their own zoning either side of it.

Shrewsbury is fifteen miles south down I-83, and the rules change with the line — the borough caps a front-yard fence at three feet where the township allows four. New Freedom sits on the Mason-Dixon line, so work down here often runs to the Maryland border, and we are licensed on both sides of it.

Mechanicsburg is thirty miles up I-83 and across the river on the West Shore. The numbers there are unusually specific — Upper Allen caps a front-yard fence at 38 inches, wants a permit above two feet, and asks that the finished side face away from your lot — so it is the township office we deal with, not a county rule.

Carroll County is the one place we work where the county does not ask for a permit on a standard residential fence at all — only easements and sight distance from the road. Inside a town’s limits the town sets its own rules. Maryland does require an MHIC licence to do the work, out-of-state contractors included, and ours is MHIC 151489.

Eight miles out Route 74 — the closest market we cover, and about fourteen minutes from the warehouse door. Dover Township completely surrounds Dover Borough, so which office your fence goes through depends on which side of the borough line you sit. The township permit is $50 plus any stormwater fee.

Four feet out front, six at the sides, and a fence that may run up to the lot line but never sit on it — which matters on the older, tighter lots through the borough. Barbed wire only above six feet, and no electric fencing on a property line unless it is sensor-activated.

Stricter out front than its neighbours: three feet in a front yard where Red Lion up the road allows four. The one that catches people is the corner — nothing over three feet inside a twenty-five-foot triangle at a street intersection.

Four feet out front, six at the sides, and the Mason-Dixon line at the bottom of the borough. A fair number of jobs down here run to the Maryland border, and we are licensed on both sides — PA HIC 117820 and MD MHIC 151489.

The most particular front-yard rule anywhere we work: three feet, open type only, at least as much gap as solid, and built of wood, wrought iron or a material that resembles them. A solid white privacy panel across the front is simply not allowed.

The borough shares its codes and zoning officer with New Freedom — he is in Stewartstown Tuesday and Thursday mornings. So the question on a job here is usually which morning it gets looked at, and we plan around that rather than promise a start date that depends on an office being open.

Manchester Borough contracts its plan review and inspection out to a third party rather than handling it in-house, and the borough office keeps short hours. Next door in Mount Wolf the rules tighten: finished side facing away from you, posts on your side, and written neighbour consent to sit on the line at all.
